A private studio space will be provided, with the opportunity for a solo show in the department gallery, announced with color postcards.

The Graduate Assistant is expected to be a serious young artist with a wide variety of skills. The position offers the chance to expand those skills, providing experience in leadership, instruction, building, repair, and the organization of busy workspaces.

It is expected that the Graduate Assistant will actively make her or his own art during the nine months. Students should be able to see the Graduate Assistant as an intelligent example of artistic ambition, skilled craftsmanship and a lively work ethic.

Individual will need to provide a website or URL address with 10 images of your work on this site. Supervisor of this position will view these images.

Job Skills/Requirements
Essential Job Functions:

Studio supervision and maintenance in all 2D and 3D classrooms.

Maintain glass furnaces and organize hot glass studio.

Maintain ceramics kilns.

Safety monitor.

Instruct students in use of tools and equipment.

Managing work-study students to clean and maintain studios.

General assistance with all aspects of running the classes and the gallery program.

Education Requirements
- Bachelors Degree

Can come from any artistic background (e.g. ceramics, painting, sculpture, glass, printmaking), and must be an active artist in his or her chosen medium;

Must have experience maintaining glass furnaces and working in a hot glass studio;

Experience with ceramics kilns is highly desirable;

Must have some experience with power tools; comprehensive experience is not required—training will be provided when needed; [more]
