Hourly position (working 18.75 hours per week)
Position Summary : Assist in developing, promoting, implementing and monitoring a graduation success program and act as student advocate to meet the students' goals. Help students identify post-secondary options and gain the skills to be successful in high school and transition to the work force and post-secondary training. Guide students to post-secondary options and assist them in identifying action steps to reach their goal. Act as intermediary to school administrator, school counselors/career eduators, families and students by developing positive relationships and providing aid and support to school administrators, teachers and other school staff in strategies to promote graduate success. Assist in identifying, assessing and providing intervention to at-risk students; perform graduation success program assessment and evaluation.
Minimu m Requirements :
Preferred Experiences : Prefer one of the two years of work experience to include group coordination, facilitation and workshop development and presentation.
- 21 years of age or older
- Valid Alaska driver's license
- Two years experience working with at-risk youth to include working independently and within a collaborative team in a culturally diverse environment
- Demonstrated experience operating a variety of modern office equipment including a personal computer and related software to include Microsoft Excel and records databases such as Power School
Education Requirements : Associates degree in social work, sociology, counseling or closely-related field. Related work experience or a combination of formal schooling and related work experience may be substitited for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Compensation : This is a temporary full-time position working 18.75 hours per week with the pay rate of $19.50 per hour. This position is eligible for the Public Employees Retirement System.
The selected hire will be fingerprinted at applicant's expense and fingerprints forwarded to the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI for a records check.
