The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized, faith based, nonprofit organization, seeks a Grant Writer for the DFW Metroplex Command located in Dallas, Texas.
The Grant Writer researches and identifies government grants, private and corporate foundation opportunities and evaluates appropriateness for organization; assists in developing grant proposals and assists in managing the grant development process to develop funds that will sustain and expand the program and administrative needs; assembles all pertinent grant material packages for final submission; ensures overall accuracy and quality of all grant contract documents leaving the organization; develops and maintains thorough knowledge of The Salvation Army contracts with donor; works with the Grants Manager to coordinate the completion and submission of required follow-up reports, coordination of site visits and updates and maintains the grants management database. Assists appropriate officer or staff personnel, under the direction of the Grants Manager, in the implementation of the development plan and grant funding recommendations, in particular writing proposal, gathering trend research and making suggestions regarding appropriate ask to funders. Works with the Grants Manager and utilizes The Research Center for the Texas Division in developing funding prospects for the command; assists local area command units with research for funding grants, donor profiles for major gifts, trends and other information pertinent to the work of The Salvation Army. Researches public funding opportunities, as well as appropriate private foundations, for Salvation Army programs; develops local unit or command wide grant proposals; works with appropriate Resource Development, Program Services, Management Services and local unit staff members to prepare, write, coordinate and submit grants proposals. Works with the Grants Manager to build relationships with donors on behalf of The Salvation Army with appropriate state and private funding agencies. Oversees grants management program, including the development of Raiser’s Edge actions and provides follow-up reports to the Grants Manager to ensure that information is accurate; develops and provides regular analysis reports to Grants Manager to measure progress of Grants Management program; offers oversight of list management and makes sure that data is kept as up-to-date and current as possible. Assists the Grants Manager in providing assistance to all development departments such as the Corporate and Community Relations Manager, the Public Relations Manager, Major Gifts Manager, Special Events Manager and the Donor Services Manager. Assists in additional fund raising projects as requested by the Grants Manager. Attends meetings and other community involvements as assigned, which are pertinent to the promotion and support of The Salvation Army and enhancing its development programs and projects. Participates in continuing education opportunities, conferences and seminars to enhance professional growth. Performs public speaking to promote awareness and support for The Salvation Army programs. Develops relationships with the local and broader community to enhance support of operations for which this position is responsible. Travels, as needed, to represent The Salvation Army both locally and abroad to support and enhance all development programs and projects. Performs other related work as required.
Three years related work experience and/or training, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate field
$18.50 - $18.87/ DOE
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS: Valid Texas Driver’s License
