The City of Gainesville's Neighborhood Improvement Department is currently seeking a temporary full-time Grant’s Program Specialist to establish and maintain an inventory and monitoring system for the tracking of grants award payments and revenues for various housing programs. A typical days tasks may include d ata gathering and retrieving; maintaining complex financial reports, program logs and filing systems; planning and c oordinating grant programs and activities in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, regulations and directions from federal, local and state agencies; performing routine client intake counseling for various housing programs; evaluating compliance with grant requirements; preparing program reports; and monitoring grant program budgets. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word; have ex perience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables and Loan Servicing and have the ability to prepare comprehensive and complex financial and program reports. To be considered for this position you must have graduated from high school or have of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and two years of college level courses. Excel and Word testing is required. Job Description:
This is paraprofessional work performing varied technical duties.

Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and two years of college level courses, or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, ability, and skills.

Computer software skills may be required as specified by the department. Typing at a speed acceptable to department needs may be required. Work may require performance of tasks outdoors under varying climatic conditions.

WORK EXAMPLES (depending on area of assignment):
Complies, tracks, works with and maintains information.
Prepares reports and maintains records of work performed.
Assists in resolution of routine requests, queries and problems.
Uses Autocad for development and preparation of drawings and/or maps.
Assists PC users with routine technical problems
Assists in field studies, information gathering and organization.
Assists with monitoring and maintaining of broadcast equipment.
Assists in inspection of equipment and/or facilities.


This position requires Word & Excel testing. These tests can be taken each Tuesday & Wednesday at 9:00 am and at 1:00 pm. at Florida Works, 4800 SW 13 th Street, Gainesville, Florida.
