Nights, 12 hour shifts
I. Purpose of Position
Operate, repair and maintain mechanical functioning of grinders to produce
number of blades of acceptable quality.
II. Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Procedures:
1. Set up, adjust, repair, operate, and maintain a multiple work station of
strip grinders to produce maximum number of blades of acceptable quality.
2. Load and weld coils, grind welds, thread machine, and remove blades.
3. Dress wheels as required, using care not to damage machine parts.
4. Check quality of product and record data as required, making adjustments when
necessary, including the replacing and adjusting of replaceable tools and
5. Help sort, remove or identify defective blades. Place and identify blades on
specified material handling equipment and deliver to next operation.
6. Maintain nominal blade quality using equipment provided.
7. Maintain necessary records and keep machines and work area clean.
8. Provide temporary relief for other operator-adjusters.
High School diploma or equivalency.
Must be available to work any shift.
Must be available for overtime as requested.
Must have a min. of 6 months, hands-on experience in general mechanical
Must be able to correctly read and interpret instruments and gages.
Must be able to correctly calculate basic mathematics equations (addition,
subtraction, division, percentages).
Must be an employee in good standing.
Must meet time-in-place requirements.
Above average safety record.

High School diploma or the equivalent.
Technical training in mechanics preferred.
Minimum 12 months hands-on general mechanical experience.
Prior experience with grinding processes, maintenance and/or machinist
background a plus.
Experience with welding and/or braising preferred.
Good Interpersonal Skills.
Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent mechanical skills, both verbal and written.
High speed machine/equipment operation.
Demonstrates problem solving & trouble shooting skills.
Basic knowledge of blue print reading.
Demonstrates quality awareness & attention to detail.
