Duties: Job Duties: Provides for manual work in the maintenance of the University. Responsible for assisting in excavation work, construction/demolition, grounds maintenance, recycling, and waste removal. Duties include: assisting in repairing sidewalks and paving; excavation with hand pick and shovel; keeping drainage ways open; cutting grass using a push mower or trimmer; removing rubbish, limbs, plant debris, and leaves from grounds; picking up trash; erecting signs; cutting weeds and brush; operating power tools such as tamper and jack hammer; loading and unloading trucks; assisting in cleaning out storage rooms and other general labor; assisting with janitorial, heavy equipment, waste removal, recycling and automotive maintenance duties; cleaning and maintaining tools, equipment, materials and supplies. A valid driver's license and ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle is preferred. The filing of this position is contingent upon available funding
Essential Functions: Requires frequent bending, stooping, and lifting to pick up and handle or shovel debris weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to maneuver barrels filled with paper weighing several hundred pounds. Must be able to load and unload trucks; push a 100 lb. mower; reach forward to trim a hedge or operate a jackhammer; must be able to shovel up to 20 lbs. of wet snow and work outside under severe weather conditions.

As a Facilities Division Employee that person is deemed ?essential? and must remain or report to work during partial or full day closings of the University due to hazardous road conditions, emergency circumstances or for other reasons.

Selection Criteria: Selection Criteria: Minimum Education & Training: No previous experience or training required.

Skills: Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Some knowledge of simple tools used in maintenance and construction.

Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.

Ability to operate simple machines.

Sufficient physical strength and ability to lift and move heavy objects and to work under adverse weather conditions.
