This position is responsible for ensuring that individual training and active treatment are carried out as scheduled in the following areas of self-help skills, home-living skills, socialization, communication, gross & fine motor skills, vocational training & recreational/leisure development. This position is responsible for supervision of 10 to 14 health care technician staff and completes performance appraisals for assigned employees. Work includes ensuring 24/7 coverage and for making daily work assignments. Duties include responsibility for ensuring the safety and sanitation of the home. As a 24/7 center, employees will work rotating, fixed or split shifts, weekends, holidays & are expected to work during inclement weather. Current position is available on the evening shift (3:00 pm – 11:30 pm)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:

Must be NA certified and listed in good standing with the NC Health Care Registry and other licensing boards/agencies Skilled in nursing care with the ability to document care completely and accurately. Ensures that individual training and activity schedules are followed, modifying those schedules in response to unexpected circumstances. Individual possesses knowledge of the practices of health care techniques to include sanitation, personal hygiene, nursing aide tasks and common health/safety precautions. Ability to read and comprehend materials such as policies/procedures, manuals, federal/state regulations as needed to comply with regulatory requirements and to train assigned health care staff. Ability to communicate orally to include giving oral reports as needed to provide/exchange information, plus provide employee feedback. Ability to supervise to include prioritizing tasks, exercising sound judgment when dealing with problems on the home and developing staff as needed to ensure effective utilization of assigned staff. Applicant possesses ability to work as a team player and communicate with a variety of professionals, family members and/or guardians. Ability to communicate in writing, prepare reports, records and charts as needed to exchange information with staff, instruct subordinates and define performance requirements for staff.


Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High School or GED and must be listed as a NAI in good standings with the NC Health Care Registry with three years experience in health care work at the level of a health care technician I; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
