Position Overview:
SDSE is seeking a Group Lead for a position on a large contract with NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) located in Greenbelt, MD. This position reports directly to the Program Director. The Group Lead provides leadership and guidance that has a direct effect on contract performance and customer satisfaction. The responsibilities and duties of this role include major contributions to ensure quality technical performance, efficient schedule control, and effective cost control. The Group Lead is also responsible for contributing to a positive working atmosphere and helps lead efforts to develop a responsive staff that produces quality performance and high productivity. The Group Lead serves as the single point-of-contact for specific GSFC customers, as well as provides subject matter expertise in regards to project support. This is a senior level professional who is capable of independent action, but maintains a close working relationship with the Program Director to obtain advice, counsel, and decisions on escalated issues.

Task Lead Responsibilities:
Maintain regular (e.g., daily) communication with the NASA customer
Lead the preparation of Task Plans to accurately respond to customer Task Order requests in a timely fashion
Assign Task Leads to specific Task Orders, or act as Task Lead for some Task Orders
Supervise the work of Task Leads responding to the Group Lead's customers
Monitor the progress of each Task Order for the Group Lead's customers against Plan
Verify that deliverables will be both satisfactory and delivered on time
Coordinate related Task Order activity with other Group Leads
Generate monthly reports for the work supporting the Group Lead's customers
Assess performance under the Quality Control Plan
Support the response to the periodic Task Forecast
Work with the Business Manager to monitor the progress of deliverables against plan, proactively identify problems or issues, and take specific action
Plan personnel assignments that are most advantageous to the government
Prepare support requirements analyses
Authorize hiring of support personnel
Conduct performance reviews
Develop and conduct training and skill enhancement programs in selected disciplines

Specific Responsibilities related to General Business:
Provide leadership, subject matter expertise, and senior-level support to General Business tasks in one or more of the following areas: Project Support (including travel, cost analysis, training, purchase requests), Logistics, Graphics, Publications
Maintains expert knowledge of required compliance documentation including project-specific and GSFC documentation standards
Support project travel
Lead economic cost studies utilizing historical data and statistical analyses
Establish and implement skill management and training for project control
Review shipping documents including packages for shipping with express mail purposes
Review purchase requests and other documents for compliance standards
Review workforce data, variance analysis, and presentation format
Prepare schedules, agenda and charts, and recording minutes
Maintain photographic documentation and imagery of project hardware
Coordinate with the Logistics Transportation Management branch in the shipment of materials
Support assessment of ISO compliance
Control flight hardware, ground support equipment, and other project/customer property, and interface with GSFC Logistics Management Division personnel
Review data, drawings, flow charts, diagrams, schedules, and narrative charts for project/customer presentations and reports
Review technical text, technical editing and document compilations
Provide oversight/training and mentoring to lower level positions on the contract

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in a related field
12+ years of overall experience, applicable to the responsibilities of this position
Proven expertise in Project Support (including travel, cost analysis, training, logistics, purchase requests, etc.)
3+ years interfacing directly with customers in a federal Government contracting environment and supervising professional personnel
Superior communication skills
Prior experience at NASA/GSFC desired, but not necessary
