This position leverages both technical and management skills to lead long-term growth and new technology initiatives for the exciting Desserts new product innovation (NPD). Individual will initiate, develop and execute programs to achieve agreed upon objectives within the category team. This individual will help to drive forward new product development initiatives while having a broad exposure to various programs within the Desserts Pillar and multiple cross functional partners. The person provides overall technical leadership across the Deserts initiatives related to new product development strategy and execution. IN addition, they will also interface within the function and division to drive alignment on priorities and program which complement the Desserts NPD work from the fuzzy front end of enabling technologies through the core business group, including interfacing with quality. This position will be 100% people and team management.

The candidate will plan and conduct exploratory and new product development projects, participate in development of objectives, and execute against the same recommending action plans to implement key findings.

The candidate will manage a team of 3-5 direct reports.

The candidate will represent R&D on cross-functional teams by communicating technical perspectives, in the early scoping and concept/protocept development phase

This candidate will present updates and recommendations to senior R&D and cross-functional leadership.

The candidate will properly document and communicate to peers, project summaries and key findings for documentation and application to future projects.

This candidate will provide idea leadership, strategic direction and influence with the cross-functional NPD team to create the innovation pipeline.

This candidate will create and promote technology platforms to shape the new product pipeline.

The individual must have a strong a product development foundation, the ability to handle multiple initiatives concurrently, and the ability to manage and lead a development team. Knowledge of packaging and/or process development is desired, but not required. Required skills include strong technical skills, problem solving, verbal/written communication, project management, interpersonal skills, influencing and drive for results. Work includes supplier networking, initial scoping assessments, technology development, strategic pipeline development and commercialization. The candidate will interface with the Category Business Team, drive quality decision making and develop partnerships with cross-functional groups to achieve program goals.

Willing to travel 25%


BS/MS in Food Science, Food Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering

10 years product/package/process/quality experience in a CPG company (with Kraft or other Food & Beverage Company).

2 years people and team management experience.

Must have a strong product development background. Dairy technical depth desired, but not mandatory.

Proven track record of new product development (innovation) from concept to commercialization.

Self-Motivated by problem solving and inherent curiosity to understand how things work

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and influence technical direction of project.

Ability to manage multiple complex programs concurrently

Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication

Executional excellence and personal leadership a must
