The Growth Markets Communications Leader will develop and execute an internal communication strategy for Mercer’s Growth Markets region. This individual is responsible for the effective delivery of all Growth Markets communications and will champion and apply communications best practices to support Growth Markets’ initiatives. This role will be a member of the Global Internal Communications team.

This individual will work closely with the Regional President, Growth Markets, and the Growth Markets Region Leadership Team. He or she will also liaise with the Market Leadership Teams, as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
Communications Strategy and Planning

Develop an overall communications strategy and manage and deliver all internal Growth Markets communications, ensuring clear and consistent messages are shared with the region through the right mix of channels and media in a timely, effective, transparent and interactive manner

Establish and implement an integrated stakeholder communications strategy to ensure the right messaging reaches the right groups in the most effective way possible

Devise and support strategies to leverage social media platforms that enable employee collaboration and engagement

Execution

Produce executive content (emails, presentations, etc.) for employee communications and events, utilizing the appropriate media to meet communication objectives

Lead communications efforts for region-wide initiatives and activities

Develop agendas and materials for the Regional President’s ongoing communications with various leadership groups

Manage projects effectively, delivering on time and utilizing the appropriate resources, anticipating risks and developing mitigation strategies

Use strong editorial and proofreading skills to review all communications

Draft Regional President’s speeches for external events, as needed

Effectiveness Assessment

Establish feedback channels and conduct ongoing assessments to ensure that communications efforts are effective and efficient and identify quality and process improvements; for example, develop surveys and liaise with leaders to develop appropriate action plans to deliver improvements in line with feedback

Partnerships

Identify and assess current communication practices within the region and markets; collaborate with regional and market leadership and other content owners to ensure coordinated, consistent messages going forward

Connect with regional function leaders on region-wide communications pertaining to functions

Partner with other Mercer and Marsh & McLennan Companies communicators, including Public Relations and Marketing professionals, when needed, to ensure common and complementary messaging

Work with the IT group to ensure technology supports Regional President’s communication needs

Qualifications

Extensive experience (8-10 years plus) at senior advisory level in global corporate environment

Ability to work at senior executive level in an influencing and advisory capacity

Demonstrated ability to quickly understand and adapt to specific style of executives, from defining and presenting topics to written and spoken style

Demonstrated success in designing, developing and delivering communication strategies and plans in a large, complex organization

Track record of effectively developing and launching new communication channels and tools

Solid business writing experience (writing, editing, proofreading) for a large corporate environment

Clear understanding of business strategy

Superior communication skills, both written and verbal

Project management abilities, including process improvement, communication of best practices, measuring and monitoring results

Skillful at conceiving and implementing exciting and innovative communications programs

Proficient at change management communications

Demonstrated knowledge and experience in using technology-based communication

Experience in managing web design and creative services a plus

Proven ability to set and deliver measureable objectives (particularly in relation to taking advantage of developments in communications technology)

Complete reliability in managing multiple priorities/projects/deadlines

Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and time management skills

Collaborative, flexible style, yet proven ability to operate independently with minimal supervision
