50% Issue citations to all vehicles illegally parked, and to all unregistered vehicles. Operates a handheld computer in accordance with the parking, traffic and transportation rules and regulations to issue traffic citations and to log in field activities. Information has to be both keyed into the handheld computer and ticket has been printed. Have a complete knowledge of all rules and regulations regarding the operation and parking of vehicles on the LSU campus. Inspects all vehicles for proper authorization permits. Familiar with the different types of parking permits and the privileges authorized to each. Check vehicles driven on restricted streets for violation, and issues citations to all vehicles not authorized to drive on the street. Makes observations of lots and building security land report suspicious activities and persons to university police. Issues special parking notices in advance to vehicles for special events.

5% Dispatches and accompanies tow trucks to remove illegally parked vehicles, and vehicles with three or more unregistered tickets. Take picture and or operates a video camera in accordance with the Parking, Traffic and Transportation rules and regulation to video illegally parked vehicles before and after impoundment and issues ticket before vehicle is towed. Film the vehicles that are being towed (for location and damage before its towed, fills out invoice information before towing vehicle). Transmits invoice information to the office. Compiles all documentation to release towed vehicles.

25% Handles all parking and directing of traffic for football, basketball games and other athletic events, and all other special events that occur on or off campus. (Extensive overtime is required during football and throughout the year as needed). Issues special parking notices in advance to vehicle for special events. Handles all maintenances which consist of loading and replacement of parking sign, constructing barricades, repositioning barricades, marking off and re-striping lots and stake and ribbon off lots for special event parking. Maintains all barricades in order to control traffic for special events. Inspects vehicles for proper authorization permits. Supervises student and temporary employees as requires.

10% Provides motor vehicle assistance including jump starts, changing of tire, etc. Performs user maintenance checks and minor repair (as required) to departmental vehicles necessary to keep clean and in good working order. Erects barricades, temporary signs, and ribbons for parking and traffic control. Moves barricades and signs when assignment is completed. Performs parking and traffic surveys. Directs large vehicles or escort hazardous waste on campus to insure safety for vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Responds to various emergencies and problems that impact on traffic control including working in hazardous weather conditions (rain, sleet hurricanes, etc.) Check daily and make minor repairs to gates, and cash machines.

5% Operates the radio base station in accordance with the FCC rules to communicate with enforcement personnel and office staff. Handles all phone calls and transfer to the proper person. Uses computer for status checks on vehicles and individuals to confirm impoundment status, including students and employees, ticket status, ticket balance, address, class schedules and permit status. Collects and accounts for fees paid for tows including completion of audit forms, collects and transports cash to properly secured area.

5% Counsels students, employees, and visitors having questions or problems relating to parking, tickets, ticket appeals, towing appeals, special events, and location of people, buildings, streets and departments on the LSU Campus.

Required Qualifications:
No specialized experience or training is required.

Must have attained eighteenth birthday at time of appointment.

May be required to possess a valid Louisiana driver's license at time of appointment.

An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.

Special Requirements:
This position requires a current Louisiana Class "E" driver's license. If you have a current out-of-state driver's license and you are hired, you must acquire a Louisiana Class "E" driver's license and submit a copy of your license to the department prior to your hire date.

Additional Position Information:
Pay above $10.00/hr. will depend on qualifications of candidate selected. An additional $0.50/hr. shift pay will be paid for hours actually worked. Work schedule is a shift rotation which consists of three shifts: 7:00am to 3:30pm, 8:00am to 4:30pm, and 1:30pm to 10:00pm Monday thru Friday; normal rotation if two weeks (within every six-week period, two weeks are spent on an evening shift). Overtime required for all special event/sporting event work which includes days, nights, and weekends.

An offer of employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment background, drug test, and a driving check.
