This position exists to monitor assigned patient floor and serve as an information resource to visitors, patients, and medical staff. The incumbent will answer questions, keep track of patient belongings, know the whereabouts of family members, concerns of families and/or patients. Serves as the primary information resource to visitors and family members on the hospital floor and in the waiting rooms. Responds to code blue and assists with family needs and crowd control. This position acts as the liaison between clinical, medical staff and patients and/or families. QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Requires customer service experience involving patient/public contact; preferably in crisis intervention or in a health care setting.
Requires ability to effectively interact with a widely diverse population of patients; visitors; and staff in stressful situations.
Requires conflict management skills; and self-directed proactive orientation to resolve issues before they get out of control.
Requires ability to accurately assess the physical and psychological environment and to utilize good judgment to communicate related information to appropriate departments.
Requires knowledge of hospital locations; services; and physicians with ability to communicate the information to others.
Requires sensitivity to discern or predict problems or difficulties; along with proven problem-solving skills.
Requires ability to work independently or in a self-directed group.
Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Requires excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Requires basic knowledge of computer operations.
