The PART TIME TEMPORARY Guest Services Representatives are responsible for greeting and directing guests attending COMIC-CON International 2013. The selected candidates will be assigned as a lobby director, line control monitor and/or as a baggage attendant. This is an event-driven position and work hours are not guaranteed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

Lobby Director :

Greets and directs guests upon entering the lobby space and becomes available to assist as needed. Monitors glass doors and grey doors to exhibit halls during the event.

Line Control Monitor:

Monitors and controls the lines of people using escalators in lobby areas. Directs guests to appropriate locations, using safety procedures as directed by SDCC management.

Baggage Attendant:

Checks in and retrieves guest bags, backpacks, luggage, strollers, bikes and/or luggage carts, etc. by tagging and organizing all the materials and personal belongings. Responsible for cash handling, making change when necessary and multi-tasking as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in large public assembly facilities is highly desirable.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before large groups of customers or employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problem solving involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS

Availability to work from Wednesday , July 17, 2013 through Sunday, July 21, 2013 and to attend a 5-hour orientation and division training on Friday, July 12, 2013. Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively address large crowds in a loud audible manner. Strong customer/guest services and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and in a group setting. Strong cash handling skills for baggage attendant assignment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with large crowds in the facility. Bilingual ability is a plus. Must be able to provide own black & white uniform throughout the temporary assignment: plain white polo shirt or dress shirt, plain black dress pants, black socks and plain black comfortable walking shoes (closed-toe shoes).

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. For the baggage attendant assignment, the employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Assigned areas of responsibility may be located on different show floors which include lobby areas, escalators, mezzanine level and upper level meeting rooms. Ability to work in hot and cold environments. Frequent interaction with guests and exposure to very large crowds.

Pay Rate : $11.59 per hour
