TITLE: HCC Coding Auditor
DEPARTMENT: Qualtiy Improvement FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Director of Health Management
POSITION NARRATIVE: Responsible for reviewing and auditing for CPT, ICD-9, HCPCS codes for fee tickets from charts, progress notes, hospital records, etc. Implements coding tools and education for documentation for CHC clinical staff and physicians. Educate, and consult with, physicians regarding documentation and guidelines.
- Audits and corrects fee tickets/chart notes and external documentation based on industry standard coding guidelines.
- Educates physicians with coding regulations and guidelines.

REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or GED required. College level courses or Associate’s degree preferred. Current coding certificate from AAPC or AHIMA.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, and use wrist deviation, hand/wrist repetitions, and manual dexterity. The employee must occasionally stand, walk, twist, bend, squat/kneel, reach, grasp and lift up to 10 lbs. Specific vision and hearing required by the job includes close eye work, and normal hearing.

This position works in a well-lit, air-conditioned, office setting with moderate noise level. This position is not exposed to hazardous exposures, ionizing radiation, or requires personal protective equipment.
