As a Human-computer Interaction (HCI) Researcher you will conduct research in intelligent decision support, team behavior & collaboration, & natural user experiences; & will work with engineering & design teams to turn the research into Industrial Internet platform & service innovations.
In this role, you will:
Define and implement research in the connected experience area, and drive impact into the business
Publish, and create and protect GE intellectual property
Provide intelligence to GE about new trends in UX methods, tools and technology as well as disruptive design concepts and ideas
Stay abreast / ahead of new trends in UX methods and technology
Help build a world class Industrial Internet research lab
Actively participate in professional and academic organizations to bring in top talent, new ideas and to grow GE’s reputation as a design leader and innovator
PHD in Computer Science, Human-computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive Science or related discipline
Ability and willingness to work out of an office located in San Ramon, CA
Ability and willingness to travel, as required

A research and publication history in knowledge engineering and decision support, CSCW or social networking, natural user interface technologies or related area(s)
A broad understanding of the theories and principles in HCI
The ability to effectively communicate research results and to work with engineering and design teams to translate into impact
Minimum of 1 year of experience working on cross-functional teams in research settings (industrial or academic)
Programming and prototyping skills (esp. in native C / C++ code, .NET, JAVA, HTML5 and other web2.0 and open source development frameworks)
Proven innovation skills
Strong analytics skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
