SUMMARY: Health Assurance Technicians will work closely with the veterinarians and production employees to coordinate and implement data collection and health monitoring for the Seaboard system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned at management’s discretion.
Collection of tissue and blood samples
Processing and submission of samples to diagnostic laboratories
Assistance with research trials (draft protocols, trial preparation and implementation, and data recording)
Assistance with vaccine and inoculum specimen collection, inoculum preparation, and implementation training
Assistance with training and education of production personnel
Ability to schedule and organize activities in order to meet a deadline
Ability to multi-task and personal initiative are critical components needed for success
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years production or veterinary technician experience (or equivalent combination of training and/or experience) is required. Previous experience with necropsy and tissue collection is preferred, or the candidate must be prepared to learn basic anatomy and disease processes on the job.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employee organizations. Bilingual skills preferred, Spanish and English.
