The University of Florida (UF) Department of Epidemiology seeks a personable, diligent individual to function as Ambassador for a community-based study. The Ambassador will provide one-on-one assistance to community members enrolled in an enhanced study protocol, transporting and accompanying them to study visits and providing them with the tools and resources necessary to complete their participation successfully. The Ambassador will also provide outreach, education, and advocacy to community residents and connect them with needed medical and social services and research opportunities at the University of Florida based on their individual needs and wants.
Provides a small caseload of participants in the Navigation study with tailored support to enable their completion of a research study of their choice, including providing transportation and accompanying them to study visits.
Refers participants to available medical and social services and opportunities offered at HealthStreet location.
Engages community residents in HealthStreet by conducting health intakes, and linking them to other studies throughout the University.
Provides follow-up with participants, including updating their locating information.
Serves as an advocate for participants and the community towards improving the public health.
Drives and maintains the HealthStreet vehicle.
Prepares information packets for patients enrolled in study.
Attend weekly team meetings to review progress.
Other duties as assigned
A high school diploma and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Applicants should live in and be familiar with the greater Gainesville region. Should be punctual, outgoing, communicate effectively (verbally and in writing), be committed to participant protection and privacy, and have high personal integrity.

Expected to work additional hours which will include one Saturday per month, and may include extended weekday/weekend or evening hours as required for special events.
