The primary purpose of this position is to provide medical standards guidance policy interpretation and application to health care professionals and medical support staffs within the medical treatment facilities (MTFs) and to personnel throughout the installation.
Major program areas covered include, but are not limited to, physical profiling and worldwide service determinability, deployment medicine, training requirements, and the application of medical standards in relation to aviators, Air Traffic Controllers, and other special operational duty personnel.
Plans, organizes, and implements medical standards activities for the SGP, as well as providing consultative services to the MTF on medical standard issues, medical standards training, deployment processing, and other Aerospace Medicine Standards related topics, as required.
Plans and organizes all practices and administrative procedures for the element.
Performs administrative quality reviews of Duty Limiting Conditions (DLC), physical examinations, profiles, and appropriate clearances before these documents are forwarded/leave the MTF.
Responsible for the profiling/duty limitation system via the Preventive Health Assessment and Individual Medical Readiness (PIMR) application in accordance with Air Force Instructions (AFIs).
Functions as the MTFs key focal point and functional expert for the analysis, interpretation, and application of medical standards to include waiver actions.
Interprets and applies appropriate medical standards to determine medical qualifications of active duty, Air National Guard (ANG), Air Force Reserve (AFR), and eligible civilian government employees.
Represents medical standards element with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
Articulate the SGP and MTF position at a variety of forums on critical issues impacting the practice of Aerospace Medicine throughout the base.

Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-07.
Experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position being filled.

(TIG) Requirement for General Schedule (GS) Positions:
Applicants must have served at least 52 weeks at the GS-07 or higher grade (or equivalent in an alternate pay system) within the Federal Civil Service to be considered for referral.
The purpose of TIG restrictions is to prevent excessively rapid promotions in competitive service GS positions and to protect competitive principles.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

Knowledge in the area of analyzing, evaluating, interpreting, and applying medical standards to general military population, aviators, and other special operational duty personnel as well as the different functions and motivations of various employees and groups involved.
Skill in use of military medical computer software such as Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), Preventive Health Assessment and Individual Medical Readiness (PIMR), Aeromedical Information Management Waiver Tracking System (AIMWTS), and Physical Examination and Processing Program (PEPP).
Ability to provide and coordinate detailed consultation services and advice to, and gather information from, health care professionals, paraprofessional personnel, and non-medical personnel.
Ability to analyze, evaluate, reconcile contradictory requirements in, and draw conclusions from multiple sources of medical and technical information.

Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
