This Critical Management Position Has Strategic Responsibility for the areas of HIMS and is a valuable resource for the revenue cycle process. The Director must provide direction and oversight for all functions within the HIMS department. Collaborates with Managers in the Patient Financial Services, Registration to assure the efficient processing of Medical and Financial information and Provides oversight to the coding audit process for hospital and physician practices. The Director maintains a current knowledge of laws of the State and Federal governments relating to Medical Records and imparts knowledge of any change or new regulations to hospital employees and medical staff as needed.
Education: Associates Degree Or Bachelors Degree In Related Area Preferred. Managerial experience of five years or three years as director of medical records department. RHIT or RHIA preferred.
Special Knowledge Required: An Ability To Get Along With People, Employees, Higher Management, Patients And Their Families And Other Hospital Personnel. A General Everyday Knowledge Of All Job Descriptions In The Department. Upholds the Standards of Behavior outlined by Inland Hospital and holds staff accountable to maintaining those standards.
