Under the direction of the TGIF Jazz Supervisor, this person will work on a team which sets up, maintains and dismantles the concert site on nine consecutive Fridays in June, July and August. Driver Crew members work both A.M. and P.M. shifts, perform heavy labor and interact with the public. This part-time position requires availability on all stated Fridays starting June 28 through August 23, 2013; the period of employment is from June 10 through August 30, 2013. Must be flexible, some additional work dates may be negotiated.

TGIF Jazz in the Parks is a weekly free community concert which attracts more than 3,000 people. A variety of vendors provide refreshments and activities. Services to attendees include free shuttle buses, managed parking areas, and on-site recycle and trash management.

Driver Crew member shifts are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 12 midnight.

Key Responsibilities:

Pick up and return rented vehicles from off-site location; drive city and rented vehicles in the performance of the following duties and perform them with other Concert Crew; move stage pieces and equipment from storage cars to concert site; set up /retrieve traffic control signs; assist public with loading chairs on shuttle buses; collect trash and recycled materials; maintain safety of the public, the vehicles and all staff during all activities.

Qualifications:

Individual must be at least 21 years of age as of May 31, 2013; possess a valid Class C—California Driver’s License and be able to provide a print out from the DMV demonstrating a clean driving record upon request, as well as proof of age; be available to work both shifts on required dates; have reliable transportation; and have good communication and teamwork skills.

Required Apparel—person hired must wear “Crew t-shirt” standard apparel as prescribed by the Cultural Arts Office, along with closed-toe shoes.

Experience & Education:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Individual must be able to lift 50 pounds.
