      We are looking for bright, hard-working software engineers to fill a key role to help grow HP's BladeSystem Virtual Connect business and make contributions to our roadmap. In this role, you will work with a highly experienced, highly skilled engineering team within HP's Enterprise Business organization, to debug and resolve product issues associated with our industry-leading server and storage products.

      Essential Responsibilities :

      Software sustaining engineers play lead roles in multi-discipline teams working on new and existing products and solutions. You will be responsible for the sustaining and supporting of HP’s BladeSystem Virtual Connect software product. You will make changes to system software to correct errors in the original implementation and provide feedback and suggestions for improvement in future product releases. Additionally, you will produce new tools to assist the debugging process and will review requirements, specifications, and designs to assure product quality.

      The systems engineer is responsible for resolving HP software issues/problems in Windows, Linux, or VMware environment. This consists of determining the problem root cause down to the code level, and making modifications/patches to correct the problem(s). This engineer is also responsible for developing debug utilities to help expedite the problem resolution process.

      Typical activities include:
      · Work with other Virtual Connect Sustaining Engineers on software product issues.
      · Reproduce, isolate, and resolve problems that are escalated from Support groups.
      · Update problem resolutions and progress on worldwide problem tracking database.
      · Participate in new HW/SW projects.
      · Write patches and describe problems and solutions in internal product communication documents (Engineering Advisory)
      · Develop tools to help debug or isolate issues.
      · Participating in development planning, scheduling and software architecture
      · Defining new product features and requirements.
      · Design, implementation, integration, and delivery of interconnect and storage management software using C/C++ and Shell script
      · Participate in the inspection process for investigations, designs and implementations of key Virtual Connect issues
      · Work closely with other Virtual Connect engineers to new features and bug fixes.
      Skills/Knowledge Qualifications : · Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent
      · 5+ years of relevant industry experience. Hands-on product development experience is a must
      · Working knowledge of and development experience in Linux operating systems internals
      · C/C++ knowledge
      · Strong understanding and experience of Object Oriented design
      · Collaborating with cross-functional and remote project team members for successful project completion
      · Analytic ability to research technical issues and generate creative/innovative solutions
      · Software development and de-bugging skills
      · Strong communication skills
      · Good experience in networking, SAN connectivity, virtual environments, and memory dump analysis
      Desired : · Knowledge of storage or network hardware protocols desirable
      · 3+ years of server virtualization technology offerings (Windows and Linux), especially in the area of network or storage architecture implications.
