Under general supervision and following established policies, the Human Resources Analyst performs professional assignments requiring general use and application of concepts, practices and techniques. |
Participates in the investigation of discrimination complaints including interviewing employees and management, tracks case status. Counsels supervisors and/or managers on routine Human Resources policy issues.
Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each):
Employee Relations - 50%
Counsels and provides assistance to employees and all levels of management in employee or management issues guided by the Company’s employee relations policy and labor law legislation; investigates employee/management inquiries, employee suggestions and complaints and makes appropriate recommendations; meets with departments to assess problems, provides disciplinary consultations and other intervention services to management and employees as requested; may assist in responding to Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC) charges, other administrative claims, discovery and other matters that arise during litigation.
Labor Relations- 50%
Investigates grievances and complaints to establish and verify facts by interviewing witnesses, arranging for and conducting meetings with management; identifies relevant contract provisions, procedures and precedents and applies them to grievances; evaluates union allegations and arguments to determine viability; develops recommendations of the case, basic and alternative arguments, makes factual determinations and writes a report of findings and conclusions; advises management on strengths and weaknesses of the case as well as the probability that management’s position will result in a negotiated settlement of disputes, complaints and grievances with union representatives; may serve as a Company representative on management bargaining team in negotiations with assigned bargaining units; responds to inquiries from managers about contract terms and/or interpretations based on established human resources and labor relations policy; and performs other related duties as assigned.
A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and three (3) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to travel overnight, sometimes with short notice.
U.S. Citizenship, Permanent Residency or other status as a U.S. Person required.
