At BlackRock, we are building a world class HR team. Our HR Business Partners lead the delivery of all HR services to internal client groups to drive outstanding performance. HR BP’s partner closely with business leaders to drive the BlackRock Talent Agenda, consult on critical talent decisions and achieve operational excellence for the business. We serve as trusted advisors on all HR issues and as partners to the business in hiring, developing and retaining the best talent in the industry.

This position will serve as HR Business Partner for several client groups within the BlackRock Solutions and RQA organizations, partnering with senior HRBP’s.

Consult and Support the Business

Provide informed HR consulting and execution to business leaders to ensure that their talent strategy, goals and priorities are driven by business needs and aligned with the firm’s Talent Agenda; assist and support senior HR BP’s as needed

Partner with the business on all key talent decisions, providing HR advice and expertise. Leverage subject matter experts from across the HR function as needed

Support the business with organizational change and development as necessary, influencing leaders to address complex organizational design issues where required for business success

Create and provide adhoc reporting, data management/tracking of key HR metrics. Analyze and present relevant reports back to the business. Develop HR presentations on key HR data or HR-related materials

Talent Management

Support clients in the execution of BlackRock’s annual talent practices, including performance management, talent review, succession planning and promotion

Co-facilitate talent review and succession planning discussions and work with senior HR BP’s to help implement plans and conduct appropriate follow up

Help define and execute the 2013 business group Talent Agenda, including engagement, development, recruiting, and diversity priorities and objectives

Partner with the Talent Management team to assess, define and execute the development needs of assigned businesses

Provide expert counsel and coaching to support business leaders in their roles and with their own professional development

Employee Relations

Partner with the Employee Relations team, legal counsel, senior HR BP’s and other key stakeholders on the identification, escalation, risk mitigation and resolution of employee relations issues

Lead execution of identified ER issues in assigned groups

Total Rewards

Partner with Compensation and Benefits teams on the execution of the annual compensation cycle as well as identified compensation, personal wellness and financial wellness issues in assigned groups

Understand and implement BlackRock’s compensation philosophy and processes, ensuring tight alignment of specific compensation decisions


Work with the Talent Acquisition team to ensure delivery of effective hiring and resourcing pans, attracting the most talented, skilled and diverse workforce by cost effectively leveraging BlackRock’s strong employer brand

Employee Services

Act as the primary interface with the Employee Services team for issues and inquiries which relate to assigned groups

Support the delivery of effective and efficient Employee Services through a detailed understanding of HR Operations, guiding clients on what we offer and connecting them with internal subject matter experts to assist with specific situations as necessary

5-10 years HR Generalist experience, preferably in the financial services, asset management or investment banking industry

Demonstrated expertise and experience serving in a consultative capacity to senior business leaders, shaping organizational strategy, goals and alignment

Experience working across cultures and in a matrixed environment strongly preferred

Experience working across the various HR disciplines including compensation, recruiting and talent management

Ability to execute firm-wide talent initiatives with excellence in a fast paced, global corporate environment; commitment to innovation and continuous improvement

Demonstrated expertise building consensus on a cross-functional basis

Familiar with HR reporting with experience analyzing and presenting findings and reports back to the business as well as tracking and disseminating key HR data

Experience managing a variety of employee relations issues across geographies

BA/BS degree; certifications and course work in specific areas of HR expertise preferred

Proficiency with windows applications required; proficiency with HR systems including SuccessFactors and Oracle preferred

Strong client relationship management and consulting

Demonstrates and models highly effective leadership and influencing skills

Capable of rapidly building strong, effective and trusted relationships and networks

Creates and inspires trust and openness amongst colleagues and clients

Highly motivated, energizing and inspiring others to seek higher levels of performance

Strong communication skills, ability to influence and articulate a variety of issues to different audiences, tailoring messages accordingly

Comfortable ‘owning’ the details and driving execution as well as mapping out broader talent strategies

Analytical and creative-capable of flexing solutions to changing demands: anticipating the local, regional, global impact

Commercial acumen and demonstrated interest in financial services, investing and asset management
