Within the Global Internal Communications team, the HR Communications Associate is responsible for drafting and deploying employee communications about BlackRock Human Resources and its programs. The HR Communications Associate will support the HR Communications Director with a wide variety of communication needs in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Rewards, Philanthropy, and Diversity & Inclusion. Note: The primary focus of the role is writing.
This position reports to Global Marketing and Communications, but is also a key member of the Human Resources team. The HR Communications Associate reports to the HR Communications Director.
Internal (Employee) Communications – The internal communications team is responsible for planning, developing and deploying high-impact communications for a diverse and global audience of approximately 10,000 employees and for ensuring that communications align with and support the firm’s key business objectives, mission, brand and principles.
Plan and draft a variety of employee communications about various HR-related topics, to launch and reinforce programs and initiatives, announce changes and drive engagement
Deploy communications to employees through a range of global channels, including email, intranet, internal social media platform, video, etc.
Partner with various HR stakeholders (program owners) to develop content for communications
Ensure accuracy, clarity and consistency of communications, reflecting HR messaging and wider firm objectives
Maintain HR communications calendar and log of all HR communications that go out
Maintain and update HR content on intranet, HR portal and other online vehicles
Build effective relationships with HR stakeholders and other Internal Communications team members
Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, business or related discipline
Approximately five years of internal communications experience – experience working with HR is strongly preferred, especially experience in a global HR environment
Excellent writing, editing, and interpersonal skills is a must (note: this is mainly a writing role)
Experience developing communication plans
Ability to partner successfully with stakeholders and work effectively in a team environment
Ability to exercise discretion with sensitive topics
Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility regarding changes in strategy and project plans
Ability to manage deadlines and multiple assignments simultaneously
Ability to move communications forward in a complex environment
Ability to integrate input from multiple stakeholders while maintaining project schedules
Awareness of importance of cultural differences and ability to work within a global HR function
Self-starter, excellent work ethic, positive, energetic attitude
