Description

This position will provide HR Generalist support to Corn Milling with specific responsibility for Cedar Rapids. Reporting to the Client HR Manager for Operations, the Human Resource Generalist will be performing generalist duties in different areas of HR and will serve as a liaison between location management teams and BU/FIS/Corporate HR functions to ensure delivery of value-added HR services to the organization. The individual will work with other HR team members in carrying out the tactical aspects of our business plan. This position requires a high level of organization, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in order to meet deadlines. The incumbent must have the ability to aid in the development of programs and processes successfully implement and evaluate results to ensure the desired outcome, and make necessary modifications. This position will require approximately 10-25% travel.

Principal Accountabilities:
30% Business Leader:
Understands people impacts of the overall BU strategy; works with Client Group to understand business and implement local business plans (Engaged Employees,

Satisfied Customers, Enriched Communities & Profitable Growth.

Lead Employee & Industrial Relations activities in support of the BU Strategy to include employee discipline, employment law consulting, exit interviews, policy compliance, and contract negotiations/compliance.

Works with BU embedded team to coordinate and align delivery of all HR services in a consistent manner to ensure value creation (eg. Medical management, RIFs, LOA’s, EEO Compliance, Payroll & Benefits, etc)

Participates in compliance related activities including HR/Federal/State audits, AAP reports, investigations, data integrity, & HR related training.

Supports Merger & Acquisitions/Divestitures activities for the business, where applicable.

30% Talent Leader:
Executes BU talent management strategy within the Client Group as outlined by BU HR Leader.

Champions employee learning and career development processes within the Client Group.

Executes total compensation processes within the Client Group including base pay, incentives, position descriptions/GJC/market pay and employee benefits.

Supports movement of talent and resources across the businesses including relocation support, expat management, etc.

Accountable for working with appropriate HR partners to ensure workforce/resource planning deliverables are executed including Sourcing & Selection, Succession planning, etc.

Onboarding and retention of Client Group.

20% Culture Steward:
Understands and shapes the desired culture of the Client Group.

Champions and promotes the employee performance management and development process.

Champions employee engagement within the Client Group. Participates in action planning. Provide analysis and recommendations, as well as benchmarking.

Supports employee recognition process.

Promotes communication across the BU and Client Groups to ensure key messages to foster employee engagement

Supports BU, Platform & Client Group Diversity/Inclusion initiatives

10% Change Management and Other Items that Require Attention:

Develop the HR Coordinators, support development of HR team, and build bench strength

Coaching Client Group partners and providing input to further develop business talent

Qualifications

Required:
Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field

3 years of Human Resources/Business experience

2 years experience in HR Generalist foundations in Compensation, Employment Law, Employee Relations, and Talent processes

Ability to travel 10-25%

Experience with assessing, coaching and developing people, include indirectly as part of project teams

Demonstrated ability to manage and implement people processes and HR solutions

Demonstrated experience participating and leading change efforts characterized by effective communications, strong partnerships with managers, and strong employee engagement

Demonstrated track record in taking initiative, working independently and handling multiple priorities simultaneously

Demonstrated willingness and ability to partner, build, and sustain positive working relationships with both managers and employees

Proactively address talent issues as they relate to business strategy

Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in HR related field

Masters degree or Post-graduate education

Professional certifications

Experience working in a plant, field, or non-headquarter location

Supervisory experience

Managing budget or service level agreements

Experience working with Talent management processes

Experience working on a virtual team

Knowledge of labor and employment laws and understanding of their impact on the business

Fluency in change management

Understanding of industrial and labor relations and collective bargaining process
