Role Purpose
·


To deliver commercially relevant HR interventions to the business in support of both the business and functional HR strategies

Business and HR Strategy
·


Understand the business and departmental/team objectives and identify how HR can drive/support the achievement of these in partnership with the business
·
Contribute to the development / implementation of the HR strategy and identify opportunities to improve value of HR to the business
·
Anticipate and identify local trends, risks and needs within the business before they escalate
Resourcing
·


Work closely with the business to manage overall resource levels in line with business strategy
·
Facilitate succession and manpower planning discussions within the business, using Group frameworks
Performance & Reward
·


Facilitate effective performance management, objective setting (including balanced scorecard and standard objectives development) and performance review / calibration. Coach managers and support specific interventions (e.g. key calibration meetings, performance improvement interventions)
·
Support the business to accurately define and grade new roles within the Global Career Band Framework
·
Facilitate compensation discussions and negotiations within the business, leveraging the framework and data from Performance & Reward. Escalate complex cases to Head of HR / Reward, as appropriate
·
Support annual pay review process for managers, including allocation of individuals to pay
·
review groups, distribution of budget and allocation of [global / regional / country] spend in line with performance
·
management principles and people agenda priorities
·
Promote awareness of benefits and recognition schemes
·
Identify new compensation and benefits requirements within the business (e.g. incentive plans), as well as improvements to existing schemes, and highlight these to Performance & Reward. Highlight specific local legal and regulatory requirements
LTROD
·


Leverage the Learning Specialists to identify learning needs, requirements and opportunities within the business and promote the use of learning products
·
Validate learning content for suitability before it is delivered to the business
·
Support management in identifying talent needs and talent pool candidates, using LTROD frameworks
·
Support any major restructuring or cultural change programmes within the business, using LTROD frameworks. Manage stakeholders and own the change for the business area
·
Promote career development, coaching and development planning within the business
Employee Relations
·


Advise managers on handling non-standard disciplinary matter and work closely with In House legal
·
Support managers with complex exit situations, including any negotiations
Major Challenges
·


To consistently manage a balance between the business change initiatives and HR driven initiatives with competing priorities and timelines
·
To manage a balance between organisational need, employee need and customer need
·
The ongoing pressure of the business environment and the need to achieve stretching targets through continually addressing income and costs challenges
·
Daily challenge to ensure that the HR transformation activities are delivered to a high standard without impacting the quality of the BAU HR activities
·
To take the lead role in ensuring GBM is at 100% completion rate for Performance Reviews
·
HSBC Global Businesses operate in a fast paced, competitive and heavily regulated world-wide Financial Services market
Role Context

The role holder is expected to work with minimal supervision:

In helping to support the direction of their business area/region through input and guidance the localised People agenda
·
Interpreting and influencing changes in policy frameworks, through reviews / discussion within HR and specialist HR
·
functions to accommodate the business challenges and operating environment
·
In being the main lead on Performance Management
Management of Risk
·


Ensure compliance, operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing any issues

Observation of Internal Controls
·


Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators

Qualifications
Experience
·


Five or more years HR experience working in large complex FS organisations, consisting of business partnering/relationship management supported by shared services and areas of expertise

Technical Knowledge

HR Business Partner / HR Manager should have very good technical HR knowledge, with a good understanding of best practice, policies and procedures and market trends; specifically in the following areas:

Relationship management

Talent (including succession planning)

Resourcing
·
Employee relations
·
Reward & compensation
·
Performance management(Performance Management is key, as this candidate will be the lead in all training on Performance Mgt, and ensuring the businesses are at 100% completion).Extensive knowledge of the Performance Mgt System is critical)
