The Human Resources Generalist, under the supervision of the of Director of HR & Volunteer Services, serves as a business partner to leaders to assist with building organizational capabilities to meet strategic and financial goals. This position has the responsibility for implementing value-added employment strategies in the areas of recruitment and selection, organizational development, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, reward, recognition, employee engagement and employee administration.
1. Recruitment and Selection
a. Manages entire recruitment process from initial position posting through on-boarding new hire for assigned positions.
b. Builds and/or updates job description for hiring manager and HR Director review.
c. Creates advertisements for hiring manager approval. Coordinates and determines most appropriate advertising vehicle to obtain candidates for positions. Vehicles may include print ads, on-line advertising, etc.
d. Follows up with candidates verbally and in writing to provide notification of hiring decisions.
e. Assists in completing pre-employment screening to include criminal background checks, pre-employment physicals, verifying licenses, certifications and registrations.
f. Prepares offer letters for hiring manager signature and presents offers of employment.
g. Continues to evaluate the effectiveness of the recruitment processes and makes adjustments as needed.
h. Utilizes pre-employment assessment tools.
i. Responsible for tracking and maintaining applicable recruitment metrics and other staffing reports as needed.
j. Manages the internal transfer and promotion process through the coordination of applications, the communication of opportunities, coaching employees on required skill sets and supporting leaders with communications on all transfer and promotion activity.
k. Responds timely to position inquiries from the website and recruiting hot line.
2. HR Administrative Support
a. Conducts exit interviews with employees leaving Agrace HospiceCare as needed.
b. Supports and participates in employee reward and recognition activities.
c. Assists with Agency-Wide Orientation and other onboarding activities as necessary.
d. Assists with benefits and wellness projects as necessary.
e. Acts as back-up to HR Administrative Assistant.
3. Employee Relations
a. Serves as the HR liaison for employees and leaders on employment issues, questions and concerns. Supports and develops leaders’ abilities to manage employee relations issues by providing advice and coaching to leaders on how to manage situations, adhere to policies, procedures and compliance.
b. Investigates complaints and allegations, maintaining sensitivity, confidentiality, ensuring consistency, equal employment and compliance at all times.
c. Conducts investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
d. Advises leaders on performance improvement plans (PIPs) and performance management process.
e. Ensures documentation is completed for all employee issues and concerns.
1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Labor Relations or related field desired
2. 1-3 years of experience in Human Resources including experience in a healthcare setting
3. Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification preferred
4. Specialized training in employment law, compensation, organizational planning and development, employee relations, safety, training and/or labor relations preferred.
