The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) has an immediate need for an experienced HR Generalist. The chosen candidate will provide HR guidance/consulting services to assigned centers and offices. Act as primary human resource liaison for issues related to workforce planning, recruiting, diversity, affirmative action planning with a primary focus on employee relations issues and performance management.
Duties for this position will include, but are not limited, to the following:
Act as the primary contact for employee and manager relations activities for assigned client base.
Conduct investigations as necessary into a variety of HR-related issues. Manage the performance improvement or other corrective action process including those that involve medical conditions and leaves.
Identify situations that require interventions such as mediation and team building and conduct and/or coordinate those activities as necessary.
Coordinate activities and consult with other organizations as required to provide appropriate resolution of issues.
Oversee involuntary termination review meetings and manage voluntary leaves in client groups.
Continually ensure processes and training regarding general HR topics are standardized and consistently maintained.
Provide coaching and guidance to management and employees, as needed.
Work closely with recruiting staff on workforce planning and strategic staffing issues.
Participate in efforts to attract and retain a diverse workforce at all levels of the organization.
Assist executive staff in succession planning activities.
Work with management and training and development to identify opportunities to foster compliance and growth.

Required Education and Experience
Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 9 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Or, relevant Master's Degree and 7 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Or, relevant PhD and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Or, relevant JD and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards. Considered internal subject matter expert.
Extensive knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Excellent leadership, project management and problem solving skills. Ability to use various computer software programs.
