The Human Resources Generalist works with company departments to provide support for Human Resources programs and functions. The HR Generalist will be responsible for coordinating and assisting with staffing, leave administration, attendance management, HRIS, benefits administration, as well as providing support in employee and labor relations and other HR programs and functions. The HR Generalist will play an important role in implementing SAP, utilizing change management principles and hands-on coaching and support for company departments.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Staffing: Work with management to create and maintain departmental staffing plans. Provide recruiting functions to ensure that competent, diverse, and skilled workers are hired and workload levels are maintained, while minimizing turnover. Perform New Hire Orientation for all New Hires. Responsible for sourcing temporary and contract positions.
HRIS/Systems Management: Ensures that data in HRIS is accurate and provides reports. Provides expertise and coordination on all systems relating to attendance, HR, benefit accrual, payroll, timekeeping, etc.
Compensation and Benefits: Work closely with the Director of HR, manage all benefits and compensation policies, procedures, and programs. Communicate all benefit and compensation programs to associates.
Labor Relations: Provide support to the Director of Human Resources in conducting investigations, preparing for arbitrations, and assisting with union contract negotiations.
Performance Management: Assist with the performance management process, working with management on their employee reviews and evaluations, providing training and consultation as necessary.
Training: Assist in the delivery of training for employees on various topics, including ethics, labor laws, policies and procedures.
Compliance: Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the Affirmative Action Plan, as well as EEO reporting and compliance. Manage leaves of absence and ensure the company is in compliance with FMLA and ADA. Manage the unemployment claims process.
Employee Relations: Provide coaching and guidance to front line and mid-level leaders and all associates regarding employment issues in such areas as, policy and procedure interpretation/application, discipline, corrective action, leaves of absence (FMLA), harassment, etc...
Develop a strong understanding of the company's organizational structure, operations, values and culture in order to effectively partner and provide support to meet Sysco Atlanta's goals and objectives.
Assist with recognition programs and establish programs to continuously improve employee relations.
Participate in community and employment events to build associate loyalty and presence by Sysco.
Perform other duties as required and assigned.
Bachelor’s degree with major or emphasis in Human Resources, Business Administration or closely related field.
2 years experience working in a Human Resources capacity.
Advanced knowledge and strong ability to work with HRIS.
Ability to visualize and effectively convey HR as a business partner to employees and management.
The ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.
Ability to work in a fast paced, demanding work environment with constant deadlines.
Strong consultative, presentation and business communication skills.
Up-to-date knowledge of applicable state and federal legislation and regulations.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, plan and organize work activities, analyze and disseminate information, and manage work time efficiently.
PHR or SPHR Certification
HRizon, PeopleSoft or SAP HRIS applications experience Affiliation with HR organizations such as SHRM or other equivalent professional organization
