PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The HR Generalist partners with mid and senior level management (typically two levels down from the business unit leader) to provide consultative human resources support. This position is responsible for ensuring alignment of business objectives, work cultures, and human resources programs/policies to facilitate the organization with achieving its business goals while minimizing risk to the firm.
Works with the HR Manager to understand broad organizational/business unit strategies and aligns human resource strategy and programs to achieve the business goals, including alignment of staffing, development, and compensation programs.
Executes against assessments made by the HR Manager and Sr. Business Unit management on overall organizational climate to ensure overall ‘well-being’ of the client organization in order to increase employee productivity and commitment, including positive employee relations, employee communication strategy, performance management and goal setting, employee surveys, optimal staffing levels, and overall employee involvement. Partners with HRM to support strategies developed to improve organizational climate across the business function(s) they support.
Partners with the HR manager to assess and diagnose client organization and identifies areas for leadership improvement to optimize the current and future operational performance of the organization, including senior leadership coaching and collaboration, succession planning, and organization structure and processes.
Partners with and takes direction from the HR Manager to execute against HR strategy, including representing business function(s) strategy and expectations, representing Human Resources to the business function(s), and partnering with the HR Manager to reconcile issues that create conflict between Human Resources and business unit strategy.
College Degree in Human Resources or related field
5 - 7 years HR generalist experience with an organization known for a high performing HR function
Experience working as an HR generalist in a financial services firm and/or an Operations environment
Experience in an organization noted for superior management practices and excellent customer service
Masters in Human Resources or an MBA
College degree and 4 years of related work experience, or
Associate degree and 6 years related work experience, or
High School diploma/equivalent and 8 years related work experience
Experience being accountable for a client group
Experience providing all functions of Human Resources as a strategic business partner to a fast-paced and changing organization
Strong leadership skills, excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong overall business acumen and analytical skills with the ability to quickly grasp business issues and understand business strategy
Adept at working with management to influence/facilitate change, implement strategy and accomplish objectives
Interpersonal relations: particularly tact, sensitivity, professionalism, confidentiality and diplomacy
Excellent project management skills and experience with a drive for results
The ability to work independently and to use good judgment in decision –making
