Performs heating, ventilation, air conditioning, (HVAC) inspections to ensure code compliance of HVAC plans, construction, installation, and alterations.
Reviews and approves HVAC plans and performs field inspections to insure compliance with codes and ordinances.
Interprets code requirements for inspectors, HVAC installers, homeowners, engineers, architects, and attorneys.
Approves/disapproves HVAC installations which are in violation of codes.
Conducts follow-up inspections to determine compliance to code violations.
Ensures that appropriate action is taken to bring code violations into compliance by issuing warnings and serving court summons.
Appears in court as a witness.
Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all applicable codes and ordinances.
Processes and services customer complaints.
Attends training classes to obtain required certifications.
High School diploma or GED; five years of experience as a journeyman HVAC mechanic or a related field, three of which must have been in HVAC code inspection. Must possess a valid State of Georgia Class II Conditioned Air Contractor 's license. ICC Residential Mechanical Inspector Certification, ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification, ICC Mechanical Plans Examiner, and National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Level 1A Certification required. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. An equivalent combination of training and directly-related experience will be considered.
