Provides various technical services to ensure hazardous wastes are removed from all university properties in a safe, legal and
timely manner. Signs legal documents certifying compliance with Environmental and Transportation regulations (i.e.
hazardous waste manifests, land disposal restriction forms, inspection logs etc.) Maintains legal document files necessary for
the university to demonstrate compliance with federal environmental and transportation regulations.
This position requires the following:
- Background Check
- Driver License
- Medical Management
- Must have, or obtain, Department of Transportation Certification for shipping hazardous materials within first six weeks
of employment. Required by Federal and State Law. Certification must be maintained for this position.
- Must have, or obtain, Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification or equivalent
operations level certification within the first six weeks of employment. Required by Federal and State Laws. Annual
refresher is required.
- Must complete specialized job specific training in hazardous waste management prior to working unsupervised. Required
by Federal and State Laws. Annual refresher is also required.
- Must have, or obtain, National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) ICS -100 and ICS -700 certifications within one
year in order to respond to emergency situations in an effective capacity.
