JOB DUTIES: The Head Coach for Men's & Women's Tennis works on a dynamic team of diverse faculty, staff, and students and is responsible for the management and administration of an effective and efficient tennis program. Duties include but are not limited to: overseeing fitness and conditioning drills; implementing and supervising routines for designated practices, match play and tournaments; coaching and recruitment of student-athletes; managing the program budget, scheduling practice, match, and travel times; monitoring academic progress toward degree of student-athletes in conjunction with the compliance office; supervising staff; maintaining a positive team dynamic by acting and communicating in a manner which provides leadership for subordinates and fosters teamwork. Reports to the Director of Athletics and will be responsible for adhering to all department, University, Heartland Conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Work schedule will include extended hours during home athletic events and other occasions, as well as travel to tournaments and matches. |
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and previous experience coaching tennis; Master's degree preferred. Competencies required for the essential functions of this position include knowledge of all aspects of the game of tennis, familiarity with University policies regarding athletics, Division II Tennis programs, Heartland Conference rules and NCAA rules and regulations. The chosen candidate will have strong oral communication and organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Other job-related education and/or coaching experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
