University, a NCAA Division I member institution and member of the Ohio
Valley Conference, is seeking applications for the position of Head Softball
The Head Softball Coach will be responsible for the
management and administration of all phases of a varsity intercollegiate
softball program and team, operating within the guidelines, rules and
regulations of the University, Conference, and the NCAA, including the supervision
of the Assistant Softball Coach.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: scheduling practice
sessions in and out of season, actively seeks to develop new performance
methods and strategies, presents annual budget requirements to the A.D. and is
accountable for expense compliance and the administration of the sport's
budget. The Head Softball Coach will
also manage team travel, and coordinate recruiting activities. This position is responsible for the
selection and training of qualified assistant coaches with the approval of the
Director of Athletics and in accordance with all University personnel and
affirmative action programs and procedures.
The Head Coach will also direct and manage assistant coaches, delegate
and prioritize administrative responsibilities, and conduct annual coaching
staff evaluations and recommend merit increases to the A.D. as
appropriate. The incumbent will maintain
continual and thorough familiarity with all applicable NCAA, Conference and
Departmental rules and regulations and cooperate fully with the Compliance
Director to insure all staff members are familiar/in compliance with all rules
and regulations governing their conduct. Perform other duties as assigned by
the sports supervisor and/or Director of Athletics.
Qualifications include the following: Bachelor’s degree is
required, Master’s Degree preferred.
Substantial collegiate softball coaching experience required, preferable
at the NCAA Division I Level. Proven
ability to lead and manage people.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated ability and success in teaching
the skills and fundamentals of the sport.
The ability to organize and motivate student-athletes to maximum
performance level in sports and academic achievements. Proven experience in
recruiting highly motivated and qualified student-athletes. Compliant with all NCAA, conference and
university rules and policies. Must be
willing to relocate.
