Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, the company operates more than 40 production facilities in North America, Europe and Asia.Our Recycling & Specification Alloys Americas (RSAA) division is seeking to add a talented Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager to its team at our Friendly/Bens Fun, West Virginia facilities.The HSE Manager will manage all aspects of employee health, safety, and environmental in an ethical manner that supports the Corporate HSE Policy Statement. The HSE Manager is responsible for activities, which drive company performance to higher levels, focusing on cultural changes that will increase the level of adherence and compliance by all employees. This position shall effectively communicate current and future regulatory impact on operations, recognize and recommend corrective actions on HSE compliance issues, assure all HSE related reports are prepared for submittal to regulatory officials in an accurate and in a timely manner.Job Title: Health, Safety, & Environmental ManagerBusiness Area: Recycling & Specification Alloys America (RSAA)Location: Friendly/Bens Run, WVRelocation Available: YesDate Opened: 11/1/2012Responsibilities Include: Improve safety performance by continuously increasing a level of awareness in the workplace.

Ensure adherence of all employees to the Health and Safety standards, policies, procedures, and programs in a manner that enthusiastically promotes a safe working environment for all employees.Lead and support the facilities continual environmental performance improvement efforts in keeping with the Company’s policy by minimizing any potentially adverse impacts of the facility’s operations and products on its employees, customers, general public and the natural environment. Seek to not only meet but, if possible, surpass the standards set by relevant legislation and regulation by diligent application of technically proven and economically feasible environmental protection measures in all phases of operationsEvaluate, develop, implement, promote and continuously improve the effectiveness of facility Health and Safety procedures and programs, and integrate such concepts into all applicable aspects of operations.Actively drive the Facility Safety Committee that consists of management personnel and workforce employees. Focus safety committee goals upon strategic goals for Health and Safety including vision statement, guiding principles for the company, specific initiatives (with performance metrics) for facility performance improvement, and communication plan (both internal and external) on highlighting the company’s efforts and image in Health and Safety.Review and maintain all environmental permits, files and documents. Understand all permit obligations and assure that systems are in place to meet all permit and regulatory requirements, assuring that all reporting is done on time and that all reports are accurate.Develop, upgrade and implement the necessary training programs and systems to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Company requirements.Provide HSE assistance to the capital project managers and sponsors in the preparation of capital requests (AFE’s) and complete reviews to assure that all capital projects are compliant with all regulatory and company requirements.Ensuring compliance with the company’s policies and procedures and with all regulatory requirements and maintaining a positive relationship with the relevant state and federal regulatory agencies, corporate leadership and other constituent groups.

Serve as company representative during facility inspections and develop necessary relationships with government agencies in order to build the company’s reputation as a value-adding corporate member of local communities.This position has a dual reporting relationship to the plant manager and the Regional HSE manager. As such, individual must be able to manage communications effectively with both individuals and work with the Regional HSE Manager to implement corporate guidelines and utilize best practice transfer.Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Safety or another technically related degree.3 to 5 + years of experience in Health, Safety and Environmental.Knowledge of OSHA, DOT and other related regulatory requirements.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate groups and encourage positive change.Knowledge of continuous process improvement methods such as Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen.Solid safety programs background.Strong planning and implementation skills.Ability to work across all discipline levels in a team based organization.Strong communication skills, business insight.May lift up to 25 lbs. and walk the plant floor on a regular basis.Driver’s license record with a strong safety track record and no infractions. - 2 years ago - save job
