Health Safety and Environmental Technician
Abengoa T&I, a contractor for electrical and mechanical assemblies, instrumentation, transmission lines, thermal & acoustic protection and communications, is looking for a Health Safety and Environmental Technician to join its growing QSE Department. Individual will be supporting the QSE Manager for the coordination of all HSE aspects for all worksites . The company is currently operating in the southwest with current projects in California, Arizona and Oregon. Individual will be based in the Phoenix office, visiting the projects when required. Note: this is an entry level HSE Tech position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and implementation of the HSE procedures for the project sites.
Support in the identification of the standards and regulations applicable to each worksites.
Participate in the applicable legal requirements identification and assessment.
Initiate and supervise preventive and corrective actions as a result of deviations or potential deviations in the companys HSE program.
Control and archive records HSE documentation.
Assist in preparing and organizing the companys periodic meetings (QSE Committees).
Control, via audits, the efficiency and appropriateness of the company policies and procedures.
Assist in the calculation of the GHG emissions and companys environmental indicators.
Support the external audits with all aspects of Health Safety and Environmental for all worksites.
Ensure the correct use of corporate applications.
Assist with the emergency plans development.
Assist management and oversee the subcontractors HSE documentation.
Assist in the development of HSE plans for all projects planning.
Report the information requested by the companys headquarters HSE department .
Assist in the development of HSE training actions.
Participate in hazards and risks identification and assessment.
2 years experience in the environmental, health and safety filed in Construction are.
Knowledge of Construction Safety regulations, especially in California ( CCR Title 8 and OHSA 1926)
Knowledge of HSE standards (HAZCOM, HAZWOPER, Fall protection, electrical safety, Accident investigation and reporting,etc. etc.)
OHSA 510 or OHSA 30 hours
Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14.001 and OSHAS 18.001 international standards.
First aid and CPR certified.
Favorable people skills.
Good leadership & communication skills working in a team environment is essential
Proficiency with MS OFFICE Tools
Ability to travel throughout North America about a 10-25% of the time.
Spanish will be a plus.
