To provide direct patient care services through implementation of shared decision making (SDM) interventions for patients facing preference-sensitive decisions (hip, knee, and spine surgery) and patient engagement interventions (e.g. decision tools, motivational interviewing, navigation skills) for patients with chronic conditions (e.g. diabetes and congestive heart failure). Work directly with the site coordinator to ensure delivery of high-quality, patient-centered health coaching services while adhering to standard operating procedures with a high level of independence.
Skills & Knowledge:
Experience with and knowledge of clinical trial management. Knowledge of federal regulations related to research with human subjects. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to effectively work with patients, physicians, and medical staff/administrators. Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to apply sound judgement and function independently with minimal direction. Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet databases (MS Word, Excel). Maintains and exercises a high degree of discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality of sensitive information. Willingness to travel within the United States. Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population.
Four years of relevant experience in a clinical setting. Prior experience with teaching, motivational interviewing or health coaching preferred. Previous project-related work involving complex scheduling and communication is preferred. Familiarity with IRB and HIPAA approvals.
Bachelor's degree in health studies, nursing or social work or the equivalent. Clinical background preferred (e.g., RN, MA, PA, etc.).
