POSITION SUMMARY: The HIM Manager plans, organizes, and direct the HIM Department. This position is highly visible as it is charged with ensuring the accurate collection of health information throughout the organization and conducting employee privacy training programs. The HIM Manager works in conjunction with other departments within the organization in all matters related to health records and data and assist Senior Administration and the Medical Staff in reaching objectives of the organization. These objectives include implementing ICD-10 Codes and advancing the electronic medical records processes to meet "Meaningful Use" requirements. The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure and make sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment. Responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances upward through the chain of command. Serves as the Compliance Officer for the hospital system.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associates degree in Health Information Technology with RHIT certification or eligibility to sit for RHIT certification. Must have two years work experience as a supervisor and three years experience in an Acute Care Hospital. Advanced knowledge in the management of patient health records, leadership and management abilities, and superior oral and written communication skills.
