Under the supervision of the Health Reform and Health Equity Manager, the individual in this position will be responsible for assisting in the execution and development of public health efforts to address behavioral healthcare inequalities and developing strategic goals related to healthcare reform preparation and implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in the development and implementation of public health strategies to address behavioral health disparities that exist in the DBHIDS service system.
Assists in the development and implementation of departmental strategies to prepare for the impact of state and federal health reform legislation and related health policies.
Assists in the planning and implementation of programs, initiatives and events for DBHIDS staff, system partners and the community that promote awareness and knowledge of health reform and behavioral health equity topics. .
Designs and implements a training, technical assistance and development strategic plan in tandem with Health Reform and Health Equity Manager.
Creates content for print media and web-based communication, including monthly newsletters, fact sheets, and other materials.
Monitors current or proposed legislation and policies related to health equity and reform as assigned.
Prepares reports that include analysis of data, implementation of unit goals and evaluation.
Provides collaborative support to Strategic Planning Division and Department-wide activities as needed.
Executes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Superior oral and written communication and presentation skills. Strong research, program planning and evaluation skills. Excellent computer and word processing skills and experience working with a variety of software packages: i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Familiarity and ease with geographically diverse staff, as well as the ability to engage in diplomatic communications with a variety of different groups. Adept problem-solving and analytic skills. Ability to work independently, as well as, be flexible and adaptive in handling changing priorities in a fast paced work environment. Maintains professional knowledge and skills within own field.
