Substitution of Experience for Education Permitted (Non-faculty only)
The Clinical Placement Coordinator is responsible for negotiating and arranging clinical experiences to meet the educational requirements for students in all levels of the Nursing program. These clinical experiences are accomplished in consultation with faculty and the Director of Nursing. In addition, the Coordinator: (1) acts as a liaison to interpret and match the needs of students and instructors to agencies with appropriate learning experiences and (2) is responsible for complex communication and problem solving to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of contacts within the college, its clinical affiliates and clinical coordinators from other institutions.
Prefer applicants with: (1) at least an awarded Bachelor's degree, (2) a degree in a health sciences technical program, (3) experience with scheduling and arranging meetings, (4) strong experience Microsoft Excel skills and (5) excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Supplemental Job Information
The Coordinator operates from a solid understanding of health care education and practice, combined with knowledge of the organizational environments where nurses practice. The key job responsibilities include: (1) arranging clinical placements in a variety of settings (e.g. hospitals, non-profit agencies, community health settings, schools, day care settings, long term care facilities, and home care), (2) maintaining complete and accurate student and institutional files, including information on liability insurance, clinical affiliation agreements, preceptor agreements, health records and background checks, (3) establishing and maintaining relationships with representatives of the clinical affiliates and clinical coordinators from other educational institutions, and (4) ensuring clinical experiences meet the requirements of local, state and national accrediting bodies. This position will be required to visit all three nursing campuses (reimbursable vicinity travel).
