This is a part-time, 64 hours per pay period, benefits eligible position. Flexible schedule.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
-- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Information Management, or related field and six (6) months experience.
-- Associates degree as a Registered Nurse, Health Information Technician, or related field and three (3) years experience.
-- An approved equivalent of education and experience.
-- Master’s degree in public health, healthcare administration, business or similar field.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
-- S trong oral and written communication skills in formal and ad hoc settings.
-- Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory data requirements and healthcare quality improvement techniques.
-- Certification by the Healthcare Quality Certification Board (HQCB), a part of the National Association for Health Quality (NAHQ) as a Professional in Healthcare Quality within six months of hire.
-- Current licensure by State of Minnesota to practice as a Registered Nurse.
-- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
Under general supervision, the Healthcare Quality Specialist provides assistance and guidance to HCMC staff in the area of quality assessment and improvement to meet internal and regulatory goals, supports regular and ad hoc performance reporting, and coordinates and executes quality improvement plans.
- Define objectives, data to be collected, and tools for the implementation of quality assessment and improvement.
- Evaluate clinical quality data and identify areas for quality improvement projects.
- Prioritize and manage multiple projects and requests simultaneously.
- Lead and work with teams throughout organization on hospital-wide and departmental quality improvement projects.
- Support the Office of the Medical Director and other departments in individual performance review and improvement initiatives and reporting.
- Present and findings to medical, nursing, and administrative audiences. Develop and maintain content expertise of one or more quality reporting systems (MCCM, UHC).
- Meet internal and regulatory reporting deadlines.
