Works independently to support the Research & Analysis team and the Health Care Informatics department by designing appropriate studies, conducting statistical analysis, and interpreting results and making recommendations based on findings.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:
Develop appropriate study design and statistical methodology for in house analytical/research activities.
Build predictive models with healthcare data to facilitate risk stratification effort. Estimate sample size to achieve desired power.
Perform advanced statistical analyses using available computer software packages.
Write the methods, produce tables and graphics, and draw appropriate conclusions from analysis results.
Present research methodology and findings to other researchers and general audience without statistical training in meetings.
Responsibilities also include literature review, data management, and other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by conducting research and by attending educational and technological workshops. This position requires contributions to team effort by accomplishing and sharing related results with other staff.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Master's or PhD degree in statistics, bio-statistics, mathematics, or related study field with emphasis on quantitative analysis.
Strong analytical and critical thinking is a must.
Experience of performing analysis upon health care data such as membership, claims, pharmacy data, etc. in health care/managed care setting is preferred.
Two years of advanced data analysis experience in healthcare industry or medical research areas including excellent SAS programming Skills, including SAS-BASE, STAT, Macros, SQL. Experience with R, s-plus, and/or other data mining tools are a plus.
Strong communication skills.
CONDITIONS OF WORK:
Office Hours: Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm.
Extended working hours as needed.
