Department: Public Works
Responsible for operating both heavy and light construction equipment, i.e., wheel loaders, backhoes, street sweepers, water truck, dump trucks, passenger pickup trucks, tractor mowers, brush cutters, vibratory compactors, paver, motor grader, asphalt distributors, tractor trailer combo (lowboy, belly dump trailer), fuel dispensing truck and equipment, dozers, asphalt recycler, pugmill, rock chippers, and hand held equipment to repair, maintain and for reconstruction projects associated with maintenance work of roadways, bridges, and culverts.
Performs various skilled and unskilled work in the maintenance of county roads and facilities. Mows weeds, trims tree limbs and/or removes trees. Removes snow and ice from roadways as required.
Incumbent is responsible for inspecting and evaluating equipment for proper and safe operation prior to use, cleans and maintains integrity of assigned equipment.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Must have a minimum of six years experience in road construction techniques, i.e., road building, maintenance/repair and operation of light construction equipment.
Must possess a Class A Commercial Drivers License with Hazmat (X) endorsement or ability to obtain the same within 6 month period.
Must be certified on a minimum of two (2) pieces of construction equipment.
Must submit to/pass post offer drug screen/background check
Must lift in excess of 50 pounds. Non-smokers preferred. BARGAINING UNIT POSITION.
