This is skilled work in the operation of heavy equipment in the Department of Solid Waste.
Examples Of Essential Duties:
Responsible for the safe operation of heavy equipment such as roll-off trucks, tractor trailers, and other related Solid Waste equipment. Performs equipment inspections and light preventable maintenance. Responsible for loading outbound trucks and processing equipment. Prepare daily work logs, inspection reports, and other required environmental reports.
Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to High School graduation and three years of experience in operating heavy-duty earth moving equipment. Possession of a valid Class "A" CDL with air brakes endorsement and an acceptable driving record is required. Must be able to work in and around trash; must have the ability to lift and carry 100 pounds; be able to stand, crawl, sit, or kneel at various times throughout the day; and work in variable weather condition.
This is a safety-sensitive position, which is subject to Drug and Alcohol Workplace testing as provided in DOT regulation 49CFR-Part 40 and /or 382.
Work hours and days are Monday through Friday and Saturdays as needed. Specific hours and days are dependent on the assigned shift. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Must be able to work flexible hours under emergency situations.
