Requires completion of high school or GED and four years of data and information processing work experience.
One year of work experience as a customer technical support specialist may be substituted for two years of the work experience requirement. An associate degree in a computer science, data processing, telecommunications, or business administration field can be substituted for two years of the work experience requirement.
A bachelor’s degree in a computer science, data processing, telecommunications, or business administration field can be substituted for four years of the work experience requirement.

Summary of Work:
Answers and responds to Help Desk telephone calls, email, and personnel requests for technical support.
Assigns, documents, tracks, and monitors requests for technical support to ensure a timely resolution.
Maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals.
Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems.
May respond to customers’ work areas as required to resolve problems or requests for assistance.
Maintains statistical information about Help Desk calls and resolutions.
Maintains detailed knowledge of assigned products.
Recommends training based on numbers and types of customer problems reported.
Updates/corrects data for in-house applicants.
Provide support for both network services and telecommunications, which include replacement of phones or replacement of networking components.
Maintain the employee database to include all network jack and their assignments.
