Tower Research Capital LLC, a high-frequency proprietary trading firm founded in 1998, seeks interns. Tower’s in-house trading system—one of the fastest and most comprehensive in the world—enables the firm to execute algorithmic trading strategies based on patterns in market behavior. High-Frequency Trading Interns will work with Tower’s trading teams or Analytics team to explore new trading opportunities, while High-Frequency Development Interns will work with Tower’s Infrastructure team to enhance the firm’s robust, resilient, and blindingly fast trading platform.
Responsibilities
As an intern, you will expand Tower’s global trading capabilities. You will shape the future of this lucrative industry while working alongside other exceptional traders and developers to solve some of the most challenging engineering problems in the world. Your responsibilities may include any of the following, which will require you to exercise discretion and independent judgment:
Designing, implementing, and deploying high-frequency trading algorithms
Exploring trading ideas by analyzing market data and market microstructure for patterns
Creating tools to analyze data for patterns
Contributing to libraries of analytical computations to support market data analysis and trading
Developing, augmenting, and calibrating exchange simulators
Augmenting, improving, redesigning, and/or re-implementing Tower’s low-latency/high-throughput production trading environment, which collects data from and disseminates orders to exchanges around the world
Optimizing this platform by using network and systems programming, as well as other advanced techniques
Developing systems that provide easy access to historical market data and trading simulations
Building risk-management and performance-tracking tools
Qualifications
Tower encourages PhD, bachelor’s, and master’s students in computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, and related fields to apply. Requirements include:
Brilliant problem-solving abilities
A strong background in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming, preferably in C++ or Java
The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills
Financial experience is not required.
