Provides front-line, high-voltage (HV) substation and collection system support to operating wind farms within the assigned area and across the Company. Serves, in conjunction with the High Voltage Team, as the Company’s subject matter expert on essentially all HV issues. Works mainly independently under the guidance of the HV Operations Manager.

•Provides electrical, high-voltage, substation and collection system support to operating wind farms, including constant on-call support
•Provides support regarding electrical design, engineering, testing, and construction as requested
•Supports and coordinates commissioning, start-up, and initial operating activities
•Manages and oversees the HV spare parts inventory and storage
•Safely performs HV switching and grounding of step-down transformers, circuit breakers, and all other wind power plant related electrical components
•Participates in the engineering, design, and construction review processes, including review of collection system, substation, and transmission line designs
•Develops and implements site betterment projects, including preparation of scope documents, exhibits, budgets, schedules, and Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
•Supports and coordinates substation maintenance at company facilities with OTOs and outage planning utilizing CMMS.
•Performs substation and HV periodic audits and inspections on equipment to ensure full compliance with the applicable NERC requirements
•Performs emergency and routine repairs as necessary
•Trains on-site staff to perform IR thermography, provides general HV training, and prepares others to operate on the collection system and substation
•Performs additional duties as required
Position Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: 7+ years of relevant technical experience
REQUIRED LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION: Necessary qualifications to operate HV equipment
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Expert knowledge of medium- and high-voltage substation electrical equipment, collection systems, and transmission lines maintenance and operations
