A Histologist prepares and processes tissue specimens for pathologist review. Main duties include embedding, cutting, staining, and mounting of tissue or body fluid. Complies with appropriate laboratory safety practices, laws, regulations and policies.
Qualifications:
Must be a graduate of an approved two-year program in Clinical Laboratory Science/Histology or have equivalent knowledge and on the job training. Must be certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent and meet the classification by the state of Georgia as a technologist. Must be a high school graduate and /or have a GED.
