Department: The Laboratory and Blood Gas Lab at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), which is the oldest accrediting body in U.S. healthcare and is recognized as the gold standard in laboratory medicine. Accreditation by the CAP also satisfies the inspection criteria of The Joint Commission and CLIA. Patients can receive quality and professional care at several locations in the region. Procedures include urinalysis, histology, hematology, phlebotomy, and more.
Position: The successful Histology Technician will p repare slides of tissues received from surgery, other nursing departments or those removed at autopsy, for the pathologist to make an accurate diagnosis as to cause of symptoms, disease, or death.
1. A minimum of two years formal training/experience in a histology department or one year training under the direction of a pathologist in addition to certification as a Histology Technician by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
2. This position is classified as a chemical handler per SEB guidelines.
