The City of Avondale has an opening for a Home Delivered Meal Driver. This is a grant funded position, working 15-20 hours per week, with no benefits. The funding for this position ends on June 30, 2013.
This position will be responsible for operating a vehicle to deliver meals to individuals who are homebound due to health, physical and/or cognitive impairments.
Examples of Duties:
Delivers meals to homebound individuals in a reasonable and timely manner.
Transport seniors to and from home.
Performs welfare checks to ensure individuals are healthy and their living conditions are suitable and have not changed. Report observations to appropriate senior staff.
Packs and loads meals and food coolers into van for delivery.
Completes required daily logs and reports.
Monitor food temperature and delivery times according to Area Agency on Aging Guidelines.
Inspect vehicle daily to ensure it is in good operating condition. Report any repair issues to appropriate senior staff.
Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to high school or equivalency.
Six (6) months of customer service or food preparation experience.
Must possess a valid Arizona Operator's Driver's License and obtain an AZ State Food Handlers Card within six months from date of hire. The successful applicant will need to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, pass a local background and driving record check as a condition of employment.
